- Brampton man shocked with $7.1 million jackpot
Orbiton Ollivierre of Brampton thought he had his prayers answered
when he checked his ticket on an OLG self ticket checker and thought
he saw $7,000. It wasn't until the retailer informed him of the $7.1
Million LOTTO 6/49 jackpot that he was hit by the overwhelming joy and
shock. "I had been praying for financial help, but this is a much
greater gift than I could have ever fathomed. The only words I could
find to express my joy were thank you God," Ollivierre excitedly said
of his win.
Ollivierre's numbers were a combination of lucky Super 7 numbers, that
he played in the past and numbers he had found from a lottery ticket
in his deceased brothers wallet. "I am a very spiritual man, and I
believe my brother is always near me. I feel he had a hand in me
receiving this win," Ollivierre told prize office staff.
Ollivierre works as a dispatcher at Sterling Concrete Sawing, and will
continue to work until his services are no longer needed by the owners
of the company. The 43 year old married father of seven and
grandfather of three plans to use the windfall to pay off bills, help
all of his family, and finally take a vacation without worrying about
the financial repercussions.
The winning ticket was purchased at K&K Bargain located on Eglinton
Avenue East in Scarborough.

- Manitoba's new LOTTO MAX millonaires!
$50 Million. It is an almost unfathomable amount of money. And that's
the prize Kirby and Marie Fontaine won on the LOTTO MAX draw of
Friday, November 6, 2009!
Kirby and Marie live in the Sagkeeng First Nation, about 150
kilometres northeast of Winnipeg. On the afternoon of November 6th,
Marie picked her daughter up from school and stopped in at the
Broadlands Store in Pine Falls, just outside of Sagkeeng. While there,
Marie purchased a ticket for that evening's LOTTO MAX draw.
The following day, Marie heard that the $50 Million Jackpot had been
won by a ticket purchased in Manitoba. She asked her husband to check
the numbers and then called the Broadlands Store to re-check. Still
unable to believe what she was hearing, the Fontaines drove to
Broadlands Store to check the ticket on the self-serve Ticket Checker.
Sure enough, it showed a 5 followed by seven zeroes!
"I was completely in shock," Marie said, giving her head a small
shake.
"It was a very emotional time, for sure," added Kirby.
The family traveled to Winnipeg to prepare for claiming their prize.
"I was running around Polo Park Shopping Centre Sunday afternoon,
trying to find something to wear!" Marie laughed. "We were late, and
they started to turn the lights out on us!"
The family has decided they need some time to think through all the
many decisions that lie ahead. They are determined to take that time.
Meanwhile, Kirby and Marie are excited and optimistic about their
future.
LOTTO MAX is Canada's newest lottery game. The game debuted in
September with its first draw held on September 25, 2009.
- $50 million LOTTO MAX jackpot won in Manitoba!
Canada's newest lottery game has had its first BIG winner. Last
night's LOTTO MAX main Jackpot of $50 Million was won by a single
ticket purchased in Manitoba!
Some lucky ticket holder in Manitoba purchased the only ticket in all
of Canada to match all seven of the main numbers drawn - 2, 7, 8, 11,
16, 17 and 18 - on one line.
"All we know right now is that the ticket was purchased somewhere in
Manitoba," said WCLC spokesperson Andrea Marantz. "The winner, or
winners, has an entire year in which to claim the prize - but I'm
hoping we hear from them much sooner than that!"
This $50 Million Jackpot is a new record lottery win for Manitoba.
LOTTO MAX is Canada's newest lottery game. The first draw was
September 25, and the Jackpot has been rolling ever since. When LOTTO
MAX's Jackpot hits $50 Million, it is capped and any additional funds
are put into separate prizes of $1 Million each, called MAXMILLIONS.
Last night, in addition to the $50 Million main Jackpot, there were
draws for 10 MAXMILLIONS prizes.
Five of the MAXMILLIONS prizes were won, by a total of eight winning
tickets - including one purchased in Winnipeg, and three purchased in
Alberta. When checking their tickets manually, players must check
their numbers against all 11 sets of winning numbers drawn. On the
main winning numbers, prizes can be won for matching as few as three
winning numbers on a single line. On MAXMILLIONS winning numbers, all
seven numbers must be matched to win or share the $1 Million prize.
The earliest opportunity for any of the lucky winners on the Prairies
to be in touch with WCLC is 8:30 a.m. CT/7:30 a.m. MT on Monday
morning. The winner should call 1-800-665-3313 to receive confirmation
that they hold the winning ticket, and instructions on how to claim
the prize.

- Canada's biggest-ever lottery draw this Friday: LOTTO MAX Jackpot hits $50
million plus 10 additional MAXMILLIONS prizes of $1 million each!
Canada's new big-jackpot lottery game is delivering the country's
largest lottery draw ever this Friday night. LOTTO MAX has now reached
its cap of $50 million, and that means players from coast-to-coast
also have chances to win an estimated 10 MAXMILLIONS prizes of $1
million each. With the main jackpot plus the additional MAXMILLIONS
prizes, this week's LOTTO MAX draw is offering more top-prize money
than the October 2005 record LOTTO 6/49 jackpot of $54.3 million.
MAXMILLIONS is a new and unique feature Canada's lotteries - and one
that lottery players have been asking for - which will create more
million-dollar winners with a big jackpot draw. Once the LOTTO MAX
jackpot reaches $50 million, top-prize money is then allocated to a
series of additional MAXMILLIONS prizes each worth $1 million, and
each with its own individual draw and set of winning numbers.
Winning a MAXMILLIONS prize is similar to winning the main jackpot - a
player must match all seven winning numbers drawn for that prize. The
LOTTO MAX jackpot has been growing since the game was launched on

- Brandon resident wins big with LOTTO MAX!
Martha Rourke was speechless when she checked her LOTTO MAX(TM) ticket
for the October 23rd draw and realized she had won $323,062!
The day after the draw, the Brandon woman took her ticket to the mall
to use the Ticket Checker. The machine revealed that she had matched
six out of seven main numbers, plus the Bonus number, to win LOTTO
MAX's second-highest prize! Martha is the first major LOTTO MAX winner
in Manitoba since the game's first draw on September 25th.
"I checked it twice," she recalled. "I couldn't believe it, so I left
and grabbed a newspaper. I checked the numbers through the paper and
then I called my daughter. I was shaking and I didn't know what I was
saying!" laughed Martha. "She was worse than I was!"
Martha purchased the $6 ticket from the Gateway Newstand, located at
79-1570 18th Street in her hometown.
Martha said that right now, she doesn't have firm plans for her
winnings. "I'll help out family who need it, but it will be nice to
feel secure in my retirement."
